On the third day of the 2024 UCI Road and Para-Cycling Road World Championships, the Under-23 and Junior Men raced in their respective Time Trials.
The two Americans representing the U23 Time Trial were Artem Shmidt (Cumming, Ga.; Ineos Grenadiers) and AJ August(Pittsford, N.Y.; Ineos Grenadiers). The course featured 327m of climbing over a total distance of 30km. Ivan Romeo (ESP) set a blisteringly fast time of 36:42.70 early on. With a new benchmark to beat, August raced against the clock, finishing in 38:26.13, which placed him 17th. Next on the start list was Shmidt, who rode a strong race, crossing the line just 30 seconds off the podium. He finished with a time of 37:52.74, securing 8th place.

Ashlin Barry (Toronto, Ont.; EF Education-ONTO) and Noah Streif (Boise, Idaho; EF Education-ONTO) competed in today’s junior Time Trial. Their course was relatively flat and spanned 25km with just 40m of climbing. Barry was among the final 10 riders to start. As the last competitors crossed the line, the times remained tight. Barry finished with a time of 28:49.93, placing him 9th, just 41 seconds off the win. Teammate Streif finished in a time of 30:12.24 to take 30th place.
