Meet the Athlete

Olivia has been racing on the road since she was 5 years old. She and her family went to watch a local race and heard there was a kids race later in the day. She decided to sign up for it and race. She got second to one of the boys in the race and wouldn’t stop crying until she heard there would be another race later that day. She decided to sign up, again, and won the race, and the rest is history. She had the chance to race in Europe both on the road and track and was able to participate in the 2021 UCI Junior Road World Championships in Belgium where she placed 8th in the Time Trial and 24th in the Road Race while working for her teammate Kaia Schmid. Recently, she raced at her first Redlands Bicycle Classic and was able to podium in 2 of the stages, the time trial and criterium, as well as win the green points leader jersey.

Growing up, how did youth sports impact who you are today?
For how much of my life I have been racing bikes, it is easy for me to say that I wouldn’t be who I am today without cycling. It has taught me everything I know about compassion, integrity, teamwork, relationships, and so much more. Though a lot of people view cycling as an individual sport, it is so much more of a team sport than people realize and that teamwork and sportsmanship that comes with racing is what has taught me to be the person I am today and continues to make me better everyday....

What is something you would tell your younger self if you could go back in time?

I would tell my younger self to not take everything to seriously, there’s a time and a place to stress about things. Enjoy it while it lasts, cycling is a lifelong sport.
